Jane Reynolds, Partner, showcased WatsonSessions capabilities at a table at the East Midlands Women in Business Conference at Pride Park on 5th March. The annual event is sponsored by the East Midlands Development Agency, Train to Gain, Business Link and Derbyshire WellConnected.
The event was very well attended, and despite the disruption of a fire alarm, the day went superbly well. Keynotes included the motivating explorer Karen Darke, TV's "Secret Millionaire" Kavita Oberoi of Oberoi Consulting, TV presenter Maggie Philbin and Dragon's Den entrepreneur Rachel Elnaugh.
The highlight was watching the hearing the stories of the finalists in the annual awards, all of whom had great successes. In a strange quirk of events, the Woman of the Year Award, which went to Hilary Devey of Pall-Ex, was collected by her male colleague, who bravely ventured into an auditorium of women to accept on behalf of Hilary, who could not attend due to illness. Other awards went to Sam O'Regan of P&S Healthcare for Most Innovative Business Winner and Janet Bloomfield of Sneckspeed Motorcycles for Young Business of the Year Winner. The nominees and the winners all showed what great businesses are flourishing in the East Midlands and are wonderful examples of leadership and enterprise.
